Children & Young People | iPROMISE | PROUD TO CARE

Children and young people come together to share their experience, create memories, help influence and shape policy at all levels.

Nothing about us, without us !

The delivery of the Promise is intended to be a 10 year commitment to radically overhaul the care system and services supporting our children and families ensuring their needs shape the service they receive (The Promise, February 2020). Children’s Rights are central to #keepingthepromise and will remain core to all areas in delivering the promise within Inverclyde.

The key focus will be continuing to ensure and building upon the needs of care experienced children and young people and their families in shaping the service that Inverclyde delivers. This will be a continuous creative, innovative and inclusive approach to improve outcomes for all, based on the following model and will be strengthened by support from the National Promise Team by building in opportunities for those involved to access learning, support and resources from the National Design School Model.

Language Matters

Our services need to reflect the language of childhood if you are to help care experienced children feel like everyone else. We want to encourage our workforce to use language akin to their own families to prevent depersonalisation of what are children’s homes and precious childhoods.

Our Proud2Care group have recently launched a Language Matters film, exploring the language used in their care.
