New Scots | REFUGEE COMMUNITY

CONNECTING NEW SCOTS

Since 2017 our New Scots project has welcomed families and individuals from multicultural backgrounds as they navigate their new home. It can be daunting arriving in a new place and starting over.

We host a space every Friday from 11:30 – 13:30pm in 12 Clyde Square, Greenock. The drop in is an informal, friendly relaxed space where friendships are formed, and experiences are shared. We have also utilised this space to invite many organisations to meet with Inverclyde's New Scots, many of which have now connected with a variety of organisations & services.

We also meet with families and individuals on a 1-2-1 basis to offer a more tailored support offering a unique person-centred approach. This has seen many individuals secure employment, move in to volunteering roles, enter college and a variety of individual needs have been met.

We continue to organise tailor made group activities which has brought diverse cultures together, for example; social bike rides, art classes, hill walks, film making, creative writing and bring and share food days and much more. Your Voice recognises that Partnership and Collaboration is at the heart of successful support and integration which helps individuals and families the opportunity to grow and learn through new experiences. Without these partnerships, we wouldn’t be able to provide all these amazing activities and experiences.
