Naloxone Briefings
Naloxone is an evidenced-based drug which reverses the effects of a potentially fatal opioid overdose.
The two-hour FREE training covers:
• How to recognise the symptoms of an overdose
• Info about Drug Deaths (local and national)
• A demonstration of how to use a Naloxone kit
Who is this training for: This training is open to anyone living, working or volunteering in Inverclyde.

Naloxone Training for Trainers
The course will cover the core areas of drug-related deaths on a global, national and local scale, opioid-related overdose prevention and explore methods and models of community-based delivery and adult learning. There will be an in-depth look at naloxone, its actions, kit assembly and administration with specific attention to overdose intervention and basic life support with naloxone.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
• Describe evidence-based overdose prevention and naloxone messages and understanding of Scotland's National Naloxone Programme.
• Identify observable signs and symptoms of a depressant overdose and advise of the appropriate response accordingly. Classification : Official
• Demonstrate the skills and knowledge to provide training and to supply (if applicable) take-home naloxone to people who use opioids or those likely to witness an overdose.
• Deliver training in overdose prevention, intervention and naloxone.
• Provide awareness sessions to other staff on overdose prevention/naloxone.
• Be confident and competent to supply naloxone without the need for a prescription or patient group direction in line with legislation.
Who is this training for: This training is for anyone working in a service and will be responsible for supplying naloxone to individuals – ensuring the person they are supplying naloxone to are trained in recognising and responding effectively to a suspected overdose.

Alcohol Brief Intervention Practitioner Training
This course aims to equip participants with knowledge and skills to deliver an Alcohol Brief Intervention (ABI). Brief interventions are not overly complex and can be delivered by professionals in a range of health and social care settings once training requirements have been met.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
• Outline the prevalence of alcohol use in Scotland and Inverclyde
• Describe the health impact of alcohol use
• Describe the guidelines for low-risk alcohol consumption
• Describe a ranger of tools available to use when carrying out an ABI
• Confidently conduct an ABI Who is this training for: This training is for anyone working in a service and will be responsible for conducting Alcohol Brief Interventions (ABIs) and recording the number of ABIs conducted.
