Cold Water Swimming Update

Second Block commences 20th July 2022 - 24th August 2022 at 2pm to 3pm at Lunderston Bay

After a highly successful first block of Cold Water Swimming we are delighted to announce the opportunity for 10 people to engage in a 6 week introduction to cold water therapy/swimming. This block is open to new people seeking the experience for the first time. With each swim you will experience alleviation of a variety of ailments including symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression. More and more GPā€™s are prescribing Cold Water Therapy / Swimming as the health and wellbeing benefits include:

  • Boosting the Immune System

  • Improve Circulation

  • Deepen Sleep

  • Boost Energy Levels

  • Reduce Inflammation

  • Improve Metabolic Function

Cold water swimming also carries risks and these sessions will teach individuals the following:

  • How to acclimatise to cold water safely

  • How to deal with Cold Shock

  • Understand the body response to cold water

  • Knowing when to get out the water to prevent after drop body temperature/hypothermia

  • The importance of Understanding tides and to swim on the correct tide.

Lisa the founder of Happy and Wild is the only qualified open water swimming coach in Inverclyde and is also a leader in running fitness and outdoor first aid certificates.

Each session will be located at the sandy shore of Lunderston Bay where it will begin with a beautiful 30 minute nature walk or jog and will conclude with a dip/swim in the River Clyde.

There will also be an opportunity to be introduced to the various River Clyde swimming groups so that you can continue swimming safely and confidently.
