A wee wander down the Clyde!

A day trip aimed at Inverclyde's New Scots, Refugees and Locals to mingle, story-tell and get to know each other and their locality better!

On Friday 24th we took our New Scots 'A Wee Wander Doon the Clyde' to introduce them to some of Inverclyde's local landmarks, celebrating Refugee Week and The Great Get Together 2022. Everyone had a great time, with special thanks to George and Ronnie from Port Glasgow Voluntary Transport and Park Ranger Mike Holcombe for his interesting talk and nature trail at The Greenock Cut Visitor Centre.

Events like this help to build confidence, challenge stigma and motivate our New Scots to explore their new neighbourhood and get to know some of the friendliest and most compassionate people in the world!

All the feedback was positive! Comments from our New Scots included 'still getting to know the area', 'day by day I'm getting to know Inverclyde', 'feel very confident exploring' with some mentioning places they've been to like the battery park and others highlighted initiatives that help them feel connected like 'I enjoy going to the Beacon for Art Classes' and when asked if they had a sense of belonging we had positive comments like 'we have good neighbours' and 'yes, it's fantastic!'.
