Loneliness affects many of us at one time or another. Our Social Prescribing / Community Connector team encourage people to build meaningful connections within their community – this might be encouragement to join a peer support group, attend a community social café or simply have someone to chat to throughout the week!
Evidence suggests there are 5 steps people can take to improve their mental health and wellbeing in the broadest sense;
Connect with other people – this can help you to build a sense of belonging and self-worth, call someone you haven’t spoke to in a while, arrange to meet up!
Be physically Active – Find something you enjoy and do more of it! walking, swimming, tai chi, you will fell the benefit!
Learn new skills – this can help boost your self-confidence, try a new hobby, try some new, you never know you might really enjoy it!
Give to others – small acts of kindness can have huge rewards, spend time with friends or family who would benefit from your company, explore volunteering opportunities within your community!
Pay attention to the present moment – Breath! Focus on the present moment, take notice of your surroundings, and be grateful for things that are good in your life
